I have a 30+ year-old house and we're updating all of the locks and doorknobs. Many of the previous holes are too small for the hardware that we've chosen, and I needed a way to drill them out. If you've ever tried to use a hole saw without a guide bit, it's at best an ugly situation. This tool fit the bill and has been perfect for the job.
It's not for professionals, but those kits cost $150 and up. For the price, you get great value. This kit comes with a router bit and template for the door hinges, a template for chiseling out strike plates, and two hole saws (one for the knob, one for the lockset itself on the side of the door) and the guide, which is adjustable to both 2 3/8" and 2 3/4" offsets.
It does the job very well. Just remember to drill the knob hole from each side and meet in the center of the door. If you try to drill through and aren't 100% aligned you'll chew up the other side of the guide which is made out of plastic. Not that I did that or anything.
